Whose the breadwinner??
I think this has been one of the more surprising parts of my story for me, and certainly where the pressure increases.......I am the breadwinner in my family of 3......in every way....and while my ex does pay child support, and I am grateful for it and it helps, it is a drop in the bucket in this economy for our kids........that is true, it doesn't even cover our entire food bill for the month, let alone the rest......and I don't have to preach to anybody about the expense that is found in every place........food.....gas.....heat......EVERYTHING......and when you are one income the squeeze is felt for sure......and I never intended to be the breadwinner or the traditional man of the house ever......I will say that I have always been industrious though...........always......driven to make my own money, that began with my paper route when I was a kid.....I used to save half of my money and spend the rest.......buying all sorts of treasures.......a Nintendo.......a purple scooter.......that pink and gray ten speed though;-)........and of course gifts for my family at holidays and birthdays:) One of my favorite things to do as a kid, still is, and it was empowering to have the money be my own......but I have always worked......and hustled, and made my own money, and often by way of more than one stream of income.......and here I am again:) A teacher and a business owner......making sure we can do our thing.......and I feel like I have done a good job so far, there are some things I would have done a little differently......but overall my financial decisions and efforts, have been sound in all the ways......and there has been magic in the air too the last 5 plus years.....because despite it all, the divine has always provided what the kids and I need and then some:) Abundance.......and the way appears over and over.......and I suppose I have a conflicted relationship with my breadwinner role......Part of me feeling the responsibility of it in the day to day sometimes......but also feeling really empowered by it! Like I DID THAT:) I DO THAT and continue to:) I have talked about my "man of the house" conflict.......part of me kinda digging my new skill sets......but also never holding a desire to have been the man of my house......never.......but I will say that in my marriage I did function some in those roles too.......my ex made a good living, and provided, alongside my income too for the majority of our time together......his work ethic matching mine, and it was one of the places we really vibed......but I managed our money and paid bills etc......a lot of those duties belonging to me and it worked......But now here I am.......will all of them.....and here is what I will say again....in my coaching business I have seen it over and over......women who were stay at home moms and betrayed......and left without options or stuck due to finances......and it is heartbreaking.....and I tell my own daughter to make her own money no matter what her future is......just because of the position it can put you in if you find yourself in a vulnerable position.......but I will never be less grateful that being a veteran teacher in my career, allowed me to transition to this role for my kids.....and while it was challenging initially.....it has gotten easier over time....and I am grateful for every bit of the abundance that has flowed in our direction.......:) I am a blessed human....that is the truth of the matter and the one I hold onto tighter than anything:) Happy Friday:) We made it:)
