Who are you???

This week I had a very unique and wild situation find me.......and I was thrust right in the middle......and it was stressful no doubt.....but it found its resolution as those things always do, but that was in part because I stayed rooted in myself.....at first it jangled my calm, no question....and if I shared it, you would agree that it was..........but it required me to find my center again so I could proceed in a way that helped me remain true to myself and do the right thing.....and to move in the situation, with who I am in tow, no play book attached.......and in the end I gained the respect of those around me in it all...... But I think the question of who you are, is an important one......my therapist used to ask me that often after my divorce......like who do you want to be in this story Jenn......how do you want to show up.....and who are you??? And anchoring in that so fully time and time again led me in the right direction......one step........one move......one action at a time.....and the thing is it is easy for us to allow people to pull us out of character....to allow an action to get us caught up in who we are not.....and I tell my 4th graders the same.....that their energy is precious.....and that they need to protect it from stuff that doesn't serve them......we are at the time of the year where the drama among the kids is at a fever pitch lol:) And I am spending a good deal of time putting out fires.....but also holding space for them to learn important life skills.....letting them know that drama leads nowhere good.....and I tell my own daughter that......keep showing up as YOU, and your people will emerge.....and that has been her experience this year.....she has found her way into the social circles at her new school......the gates lowering.......the circles opening.....and embracing her.....because she is pretty fabulous, I may or may not be bias;-) But it took her awhile to find her way, and break into well established social cliques......and it wasn't easy for her.....and she is ending the year on a high.....her teacher sending me a field day pic of all the girls doing their thing.....and she has a huge girl gang at Girls on the Run too.....so as I am walking my way to the end of this year......I am breathing a sigh of relief that it is almost done......it has been a journey of a year in so many ways.....my feeling like the beginning of it was another lifetime ago lol:) But summer will be finding us all no worse for wear:) Just wiser.....and as for this 3 day weekend, I am here for it.......even in the rain.....in fact with how busy life has been, a cozy weekend with my kids, in my house, cooking and reading and being with them, nowhere to be, well that sounds perfect:) I continue to be grateful that my birthday party landed on the only sunny Saturday of the month! What a lucky gal I am;-) So cheers today to lessons learned, cozy jammies, good books, and some much needed rest and relaxation:) Enjoy:)
